Ordinary day, nothing special
Mom and Dad were sitting talking at the kitchen table
Baby girl was playing with her toys on the floor
When something happened that had never before
She started rocking.  She started moving
Swaying back and forth like she could hear some kinda music and
Before your knew it her foot started tapping
Then she jumped up, spun around and started clapping ‘cause

That's when Baby started dancing
Jumping up and down.   Mom and Dad can't understand it
No one knows what happened that day
But when Baby started dancing everything changed

Mom and Dad stood there with their jaws dropped
As Baby Girl danced around the kitchen spinning like a top
Mom said, "I just don't know
whether I should call a doctor or a dance studio"
Suddenly she felt a feeling down inside
A happiness in her heart spread like a wildfire
Before she knew it her foot started tapping
Then she jumped up, spun around and started clapping ‘cause

That's when Mom started dancing
Jumping up and down she said, "I cannot understand it
I feel so much joy I cannot explain
When Baby started dancing everything changed"

Dad looked on without a clue
He said, “My family's gone crazy. I don't know what to do."
Then he saw his beautiful wife sweep their baby girl up in her arms
He felt a strange feeling down in his heart
It started small, way down inside
But it was coming on strong and it spread like a wildfire
Before he knew it his foot started tapping
Then he jumped up, spun around and started clapping ‘cause

That's when Dad started dancing
Jumping up and down he said, "I cannot understand it
There's  so much love I cannot contain
When Baby started dancing everything changed"

They just danced on and on, right out the front door and out on to the lawn
Up and down their street all the neighbors stared in complete disbelief
Then grumpy old Mr. Brown from 2 doors down
Dropped his rake right on the ground
He could not explain what was happening. 
Why his foot suddenly started tapping.

Well it spread down their street and out through the town
From the baker to the barber to the teacher then around
At the firehouse, the playground and down at the bank
They all jumped up, spun around and started clapping ‘cause

That's when everybody started dancing
Jumping up and down.  They  said, "We cannot understand it.
Nothing's ever gonna be the same
When Baby started dancing everything changed
