Why

Why does my Mom still think she can S-P-E-L-L things she doesn’t want me to know?
Why does everything that’s bad for you taste so good?
If it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside, why do I have to comb my hair?
Why can’t I have a pet octopus?
If they didn’t want me to jump on them, why did they make beds so bouncy?
Why does a kid even need to learn to square dance?

Why, oh why.  I really want to know
Do not say I’ll understand when I am grown
If you do not tell me I will find out on my own
’Cause I really want to know!

Why does my Dad say “We’ll see”, when he really means “No”?
Why does the weekend go so fast?
Why is there a Mother’s Day and a Father’s Day but no Kid’s day?
Why can my little sister (or brother) do anything she (or he) wants?
Why can my big brother (or sister) do anything he (or she) wants?
Why can’t we eat dessert FIRST?

Why, oh why.  I really want to know
Do not say that it is just because you say so
If you do not tell me I will find out on my own
’Cause I really want to know!

Why do my parents say, “You can buy that with your own money”, when they know I don’t have a job!
Why can’t I drive the car once in a while?
Why don’t adults ever play on the monkey bars?
Why can't everybody just get along?

Why, oh why.  I really want to know
Do not say that it is just the way things go
If you do not tell me I will find out on my own
’Cause I really want to know!
